Anyone! School leavers, career changers, or people returning to study after a break – there’s no one-size-fits-all. If you want to gain skills for a specific job or industry, it’s a great option.

Not exactly. VET stands for Vocational Education and Training – it’s a broad system of job-focused education. TAFE (Technical and Further Education) is one type of provider within that system. So, you can think of TAFE as a part of VET, but not the whole picture.

Vocational courses are designed to get you job-ready, fast. They’re practical, hands-on, and focus on skills you’ll actually use in the workplace. Professional degrees, on the other hand, usually take longer and are more academic – think law, medicine, or engineering. They focus more on theory and less on direct job entry.

Yes, it is. Certificate I, II, III and IV all fall under the VET system. These certificates help students gain specific skills for different industries.

Diplomas are part of the VET sector, but they can also be a stepping stone to university. In some cases, you may even get credit towards a degree if you go on to study at uni later.

Fields like healthcare, IT, education, mining, and engineering tend to top the salary charts. Of course, it also depends on experience, location, and role type.

A VET qualification is a nationally recognised certificate that proves you’ve gained skills in a certain area. It could be part of your high school program or something you do later to change or boost your career.

Certificate I gives you the basics. It’s designed to help people build simple skills for work, future study, or community participation. It’s often the first step in the VET pathway.

Not quite. The level above Certificate IV is called a Diploma, which sits at Level 5 on the Australian Qualifications Framework. It focuses on specialised skills and is ideal if you want to go deeper in your field or take on more responsibility at work.
